What it is
Datto — now part of Kaseya following the 2022 acquisition — is the dominant MSP-channel BCDR platform. The flagship is the Datto SIRIS appliance: a turnkey hardware + software + cloud BCDR solution that sits on-premises, takes image-based backups of your servers, and replicates them to the immutable Datto Cloud. Below SIRIS, Datto ALTO is the small-business-sized appliance (tens of GB to a few TB), and Datto Cloud Continuity for PCs covers Windows laptops and desktops with image-based cloud backup.
What makes SIRIS different from "backup software plus a NAS" is the integrated recovery stack. Every backup uses Datto's patented Inverse Chain Technology, which stores every snapshot as an independently bootable recovery point rather than a chain of dependent incrementals — which means there is no "backup chain" to rebuild after a failure. When a server dies you can instantly virtualize that server on the SIRIS appliance itself, or, in a full-site disaster, in the Datto Cloud — both with the same few clicks.
Screenshot Verification boots every backup every night in a sandbox and emails the partner a screenshot of the login prompt, so you know the backup actually works. Wrapping all of it is Datto BCDR and the Datto Unified Continuity product family.
